Calmette Global Story

Born from a deep passion for wine, we began a journey to discover flavors that best suit the Vietnamese palate.

Unlike many other fermented beverages, a great bottle of wine is not necessarily the most expensive one, but the one that pairs perfectly with local taste and cuisine.

Vietnam is a unique country, inheriting the culinary excellence of two of the world’s greatest food cultures: French and Chinese. In addition, the culinary traditions of Vietnam’s 54 ethnic groups are enriched by spices and influences from India, Indonesia, Japan, and more recently, the United States. Because of this rich cultural intersection, Vietnamese people have a deep understanding of food and beverages that best suit their own taste.

However, Vietnam is not yet a country known for producing high-quality wines. Therefore, to meet this refined palate, we partnered with Château Suau, located in the Cadillac – Bordeaux – France region, to create a custom blend specifically for us, using four key grape varieties: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Malbec.

From this collaboration, Calmette Global was born.

All wines are produced and bottled 100% at Château Suau, then officially imported into Vietnam, bringing you the authentic taste of Bordeaux while achieving a refined balance that pairs beautifully with Vietnamese cuisine.

Vietnam – A Cuisine of Cultural Confluence

Vietnamese cuisine is the result of thousands of years of cultural exchange.
The refinement of French and Chinese gastronomy.
Spices and culinary techniques influenced by India, Southeast Asia, and Japan.
And the rhythm of modern global cuisine.

This diversity creates a refined, balanced and complex palate — one that calls for wines with structure, yet elegance, softness and strong food-pairing ability.

The Calmette Global Philosophy
The Calmette Global Philosophy

Calmette Global is more than a Bordeaux wine.

It is:
• A dialogue between terroir and taste
• A connection between French heritage and Vietnamese culinary identity
• A meeting point between tradition and the future of global culture

Vision
Vision

We believe wine is more than an agricultural product.
Wine is culture.
Wine is language.
Wine is a bridge between people and the world.

Château Suau

Château Suau is a beautiful estate covering 82 acres (approximately 33 hectares), located south of the village of Capian, 35 km from Bordeaux. It includes 66 hectares of vineyards in a single block surrounding the farm buildings. The vineyard produces red wines under the Cadillac Côtes de Bordeaux and Côtes de Bordeaux appellations, as well as Bordeaux dry white wines, rosé wines, and sweet Cadillac wines.

From a geographical perspective, the estate is located at the highest point of the Cadillac Côtes de Bordeaux appellation, at an altitude of approximately 100 meters. The soil is mainly composed of clay and gravel. Different grape varieties are planted according to the dominant soil types (clay soils, rocky soils, and gravelly soils). The south to south-east facing slopes provide optimal sunlight exposure for the vineyards while ensuring natural soil drainage. The vineyard is surrounded by forests and hedgerows, helping maintain a balance between biodiversity, cultivated land, and wild natural areas.

In 2008, Château Suau began its transition to organic farming. Since the 2014 vintage, all products have been Ecocert certified, and the wines have been produced under the direction of Michel Rolland.

The vine density ranges from 5,000 to 7,000 vines per hectare, a high density designed to ensure high quality:

  • 5,000 vines per hectare for white grape varieties

  • 7,000 vines per hectare for red grape varieties

Cadillac Côtes de Bordeaux Region

Located between the banks of the Garonne and Dordogne rivers, the name Cadillac Côtes de Bordeaux takes pride in its long history as well as the dedication of the region’s farmers. The origins of this area date back to the Roman occupation of France under Julius Caesar, when viticulture first began to develop. Over the centuries, this activity has continuously captivated people—not only in France but around the world—and the wines produced here are known as some of the finest globally.

The Cadillac Côtes de Bordeaux appellation includes 39 villages and features a distinctive landscape of slopes and rocky terrain, with a mix of stone, sand, clay, gravel, and limestone. This terroir produces smooth ruby-red wines from four main grape varieties: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Malbec. Meanwhile, the white wines offer rich aromas and a pleasant freshness. The most commonly used white grape varieties are Sémillon, Sauvignon, and Muscadelle.
